The workers are accusing the local county administration for not giving any report nor a good reason for not paying their salary for the last six months.

According to one of the petitioners Gerald Nyamota the county has not amicably explained the reason for their pay delays adding that they are suspecting that some political forces from the county want them out of office.

He noted that the county has not given them any official communication concerning the reason as to why they have not yet been paid.

“We have staged a peaceful demonstration and we want them resolve what we see as a politically motivated move, we are not politicians but county workers” said Nyamota.

The workers urged the county CeC concerned to pay them immediately before they take another different measure to express their dissatisfaction and urged the County governor to address the issue in a mature way.

Addressing the striking workers, the county Deputy Governor Joash Maangi urged them to be calm since according to him, report of the Task force formed to deal with the issue will soon be acted upon.

Maangi said it would be unfair for the County Executive to rubbish the workers’ complaints by telling them to wait indefinitely. He promised them that a long lasting solution would be found soon.

He however pleaded with the angry workers to give the Executive four days within which to respond to the issue.
