Kisii County dairy farmers are set for a bright future, following the County Government's plan to establish an Artificial Insemination (AI) centre in Kisii town to facilitate farmers’ access to modern and quality animal breeds to boost their dairy herds and milk production.
Kisii Governor, James Ongwae has disclosed that his government will modernize dairy farming through establishment of the said A.I centre to enhance their dairy farming investments.
Speaking at Gusii Stadium during this year's Madaraka Day, the Governor underscored the importance of dairy farmers in the County embracing new and scientifically researched dairy breeds from the A.I centre to be established by the County Government.
“I am making it public that my county government will establish an A.I centre in Kisii next to Kisii High School to ensure our dairy farmers get the best dairy breeds to enhance the quality of their dairy herds and milk production,” stated Ongwae
The Governor said time for dairy farmers using sub-standard breeding systems was long gone, and they should embrace new and technologically improved breeds to improve on the quality of their dairy cows and milk production, to enhance their incomes.
The governor reminded the public that the establishment of the centre was part of the county government’s efforts to streamline the quality of extension services and ensure farmers get value from their investment in agricultural and livestock ventures.
