A group of Abagusii elders and Jubilee leaders have come to the rescue of Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.
The outspoken Cabinet Secretary has been under fire in the recent past over his threats to unleash the outlawed Chinkororo sect on people opposed to the just concluded presidential repeat polls.
But speaking on Wednesday, the Abagusii Council of Elders defended the embattled CS, condemning the sustained attacks on Matiang'i.
Led by the council's chair Araka Matundura, the group took issue with recent remarks by NASA leaders during a rally at Gusii Stadium, terming them as "careless."
“We are shocked as a council of elders following the statements issued by some leaders during a rally attended by NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga. It is so disturbing that some leaders have lost sense,” he said.
On his part, Matiang'i said that he will not be distracted by politics in the discharge of his mandate.
