Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has warned engineers who recklessly recommend construction of buildings without following the required procedure.
Speaking on Thursday afternoon at Jogoo suburb, when he visited a site where Mabo Apartment, a five storey building collapsed, Ongwae, promised to find out the engineer who recommended the construction of the ill-fated building.
The governor confirmed that construction and recommendation for the construction of the building was done in the defunct Kisii Municipal.
"We are informed that the engineer who recommended the construction of the building on 2013, was transferred to a different place but we will hunt for him so that he can he held culpable," he said.
He added, "I also urge engineers to follow procedures before recommending construction of a given building, otherwise we will not sit back and watch our people losing lives and properties."
He revealed that investigations will be done to ascertain the state of other buildings in the county.
However, no one was hurt as the tenants had already vacated the premises.
