Kisii County Agricultural Minister Evans Sagwe has said the county through the Ministry of Agriculture will provide extension officers with motorbikes.
Speaking on Tuesday during a development congress, Sagwe said that they are providing the motorbikes to ensure the county farmers are properly and effectively served.
“The plans are meant to quicken and offer extension services as effective as possible to our farmers in the interior parts within the county who find it had to reach our officers," said the minister.
He also disclosed that his ministry is set to launch a hotline number for the farmers to use to forward their concerns to the ministry regarding general agricultural matters in the county.
“We are launching a hotline for our farmers to call and express their concerns or ask questions in respect to farming as a way of offering standard services to our farmers,” he said.
He added that more extension officers will be employed by the county to ease extension services to farmers.
This move comes days after statistics reports showed that Kisii County’s agricultural production has curved down the graph in comparison to past years.
