A Kisii family is fighting to have the government release postmortem report on their deceased kin who was allegedly shot dead by the police under controversial circumstances.

According to the family of Moses Monyancha, the government has failed to release the report even as the deceased was laid to rest at their Itonwa village in Kisii County.

Speaking on Friday during the burial ceremony, they condemned a group of police officers from Nyamarambe police station for allegedly pursuing the deceased following a corruption complaint that he had launched against them at Kisii law courts.

“He is on record for filing a corruption case against two police officers and that is well known to us. We want to know why the pathologist report has been deliberately delayed. The government must get clear on this and we hope they will release a statement over the same,” said Mr Walter Omwenga on behalf of the family.

They gave the government one week to give them pending questions and threatened to go to court if they fail to give satisfactory answer,” he added.

However, Sgt. Peter Mwangangi failed to give the details of the alleged murder but said he was optimistic of an expeditious solution to the predicament.

“I have just heard that he was shot and I don’t know much above that. But I am quite optimistic that the government will give the report,” he said.
