As a way of promoting farming in Kisii County, the Syngenta East Africa has prepared a one day farmers training workshop which saw over 3000 farmers from various parts of within and outside the county attend.
The event whose main theme was dabbed ‘Change the Farmers attitude’ ensured that each and every individual who participated was well instilled with agricultural skills, as others benefitted from the new high breed Syngenta’s farm product.
Addressing the participants at the Kenya Farmers Training Centre, the Syngenta’s Western Kenya Production Manager, Nelson Sityenei urged farmers to always seek professional advice from agricultural officers in all matters regarding plants and animals rearing as one way of reducing losses incurred due to lack of technical know-how amongst the farmers.
He further urged farmers to embrace technology in their verge to promote and increase agricultural produce, saying farming has gone digital and Kisii being one the most blessed region in terms of soil fertility should ensure that they are on the frontline in planting and selling their product vie digital platform.
On the other hand the Syngenta Kisii county co-coordinator, Benson Nyakundi expressed his satisfaction in regard to the farmers response over the day’s training noting that majority of the farmers who came showed high level of interest in upgrading their farming methods, by asking advice before they bought any product a way he termed as being mature in information search.
