Elizabeth said that FGM is a very bad exercise and a violation of the rights of girls that should be stopped at all costs.

"I take this opportunity to kindly ask all those who circumcise the girls to put down their tools and start other kind of businesses since the law is following on them and anybody arrested doing it will face the law fully," said Ogwae.

Ongwae, who was speaking on Tuesday during a function that was held at Kisii Cultural Centre to launch the 2015 anti-FGM campaign was accompanied by Samuel Tunai's wife, and the Kisii Women Representative Mary Otara.

Otara urged Kisii residents to ensure that they report any parent who takes his or her girl to be circumcised.

"We will win this war if we all take part in it. If you happen to see your neighbour or any person taking a girl to be circumcised, you should immediately report such a person,” said Otara.

The wife of Narok Governor Sara Tunai said that Narok County residents have been very cooperative, and the cases have greatly reduced.

"The other day, we arrested a chief and the trend has gone now. This exercise must fully be stopped at all cost. We should be on the forefront to fight against it,” said Sarah.
