Kisii town former Mayor, Samuel Nyangeso, has criticized the county leadership of being insensitive to the needs of the electorate.
Nyangeso accused the local politicians of being lethargic and myopic to the concerns of the voters.
He said slow footedness among the county leaders was robbing the mwananchi of the much needed development.
“Current counties are sitting on enormous opportunities to leverage the economies in the counties. If during our time when we had meager resources and helped build schools then my expectation for more are not misplaced,” he said.
Nyangeso said the county government can tap into the resources that trickle from the national kitty to advance development in the grassroots.
“If these leaders have failed to execute development, they should step aside and give room for effective leaders to tap the resources to bring meaningful development to our people,” he stated.
The former mayor said the county government should do more to make the poor reap from the fruits of devolution.
He called on Ward Representatives to rise to the task of initiating development in their areas.
Nyangeso who also told Governor James Ongwae to help schools in the county to improve performance and e urged politicians and county leaders to work with the government of the day with view to helping the common mwanchi reap the fruits of devolution.
He also called on the county to do regional balancing in employment.
