Kisii County Chief Officer for Education David Kebiro has said 103 tutors in youth polytechnics who were working under contracts for the last three years are going to get permanent jobs.

This comes after the tutors of those youth polytechnics in Kisii County demonstrated on Monday this week complaining over failure to get appointment letters and the delay in their salaries.

Addressing journalist on Friday in his office, the chief officer said Kisii County Public Service Board has listed the 103 tutors who were working under contracts adding they are now are going to be employed permanently by Kisii county government after the board vetted them.

He said Kisii county government has 18 tutors who are employed permanently in youth polytechnics currently known as vocation education training centres.

“When county governments came into existence, we were not well prepared to employ all tutors at once but the national government gave us 18 tutors who were employed permanently and we absorbed them into Kisii County pay roll,” said Kebiro.

Kebiro said there were 103 tutors who were working under contracts of three years and their contracts came to an end last year November but since the county governments were not well prepared to employ them, they were added time to continue serving as contractors.

“The board of governors, transitional authority and the department of education science and technology came together and agreed to add the contractors the duration up to June this year which has already ended but in Kisii county we are going to confirmed 103 tutors permanently let no one deceive that are not going to get their letters,” added Kebiro
