On Monday, Drama unfolded at the Gusii Stadium after Governor James Ongwae was sworn in twice.

Governor Ongwae who is set to start his second term as Kisii Governor along with his Deputy Governor Joash Maangi was made to retake his oath of office after failing to do so initially with a bible in hand.

The governor was sworn in by Lady Justice Grace Nzioka.

However when it was discovered that the governor was sworn in without a bible, suspicion rose as to whether it could create a legal issue in the near future.

Kisii Chief Magistrate John Njoroge then spoke to those in attendance and assured them that the incident had been noted.

''We have noted that Governor Ongwae forgot to hold the Bible while taking his oath office, bearing in mind that he is a Christian, we are going to repeat that process so that some people might not say that this exercise was not carried out properly,'' said Njoroge as reported by The Standard.

Governor Ongwae then proceeded to take his oath of office a second time; this time with the bible in his hand.
