Kisii County Governor James Ongwae's administration has been urged to allocate county bursaries according to ward's population.
Speaking at Endereti COG Mixed Secondary School Bokimonge Ward MCA George Bibao said this will help to enhance fairness and equitable sharing of the county resources.
Bibao said giving wards equal share of bursaries led to unfair sharing and distribution of the county bursaries meant to benefit needy and bright children.
Bibao challenged the county administration to come up with a formula of sharing out the bursaries based on the criteria of population and area covered by each ward to ensure wards with large catchment areas and high population density are given more funds.
"I am calling on Governor James Ongwae to devise a formula of allocating the county bursaries to the wards. It should be based on area covered by the ward in question and the population density in that ward," said Bibao.
He added that wards with high population density and coverage are not given the same bursary allocations as those with small coverage and low population density,"said Bibao.
Bibao, however, challenged needy and bright children who had benefitted from the county government's bursary to utilise such opportunities to continue and complete their education, instead of squandering the opportunities engaging in irresponsible social ills.
