The IDPs hailed President Uhuru's apology on behalf of the subsequent governments for the wrongs experienced since time immemorial.

Speaking to this writer on phone, the group chairman Alfred Akama said the government owed them apology and what the President did was a sign of reconciliation.

The group chairman said the government compensated imposters who purported to be IDPs leaving out genuine cases, and blamed leaders for their stalemate.

"First, I applause and accept president's apology that he gave during his maiden speech last week on the state of the Nation. Secondly, I ask him to compensate us so that we can start afresh our lives,” Akama.

He said that the trend where bogus IDPs were paid leaving genuine cases out was worrying and that is why they are still suffering up to date, with the leaders politicising their situation.
