The case, which was filed by over 300 internally displaced people from various parts of Gusii, was slated for hearing on May 11, contesting against the compensation stake they are owed by the government, and whose complaints based over the Sh25000 which was issued to each victim and did not reach the intended people.

Reverend Nemwel Momanyi, who is championing the IPDs interest, said that they were requested to visit the court clerk and be issued with different date for the mention and hearing of the case.

Momanyi, who doubles as the IDP's spokesperson, outlined key matters they are challenging before court; where he noted that the IDPs want to be paid Sh400,000, and they are requesting the court to nullify the documents, which claim that families of each victim received 25,000, whose issuance is questionable as majority of the IDPs are denying to have received the cash.

Most affected families were those who worked as 'tea pickers' in Kericho tea plantations, and this is the 5th time they are challenging the government to look into the plight.

They were later issued a different date for hearing of their petition on July 6, 2015.
