Kisii Governor James Ongwae insists that the region will remain solidly in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) adding that the party will scoop more elective seats in this year's elections.
Ongwae's remarks comes at a time when the party is facing a serious threat from Jubilee administration, which has seen its top leadership under the stewardship of Deputy President William Ruto tour the region in several occasions.
Ongwae, who had accompanied ODM leader Raila Odinga on Thursday, urged locals to register as voters in numbers ahead of this year's general elections.
"I want to assure you (Odinga) that this remains an ODM stronghold. They will come with their goodies but the spirit remains the same. We must deliver in August," he said.
Ongwae added: " We shall scoop all the seats available and that is what Jubilee must understand. Its time we increase our numbers to counter them from the other side."
The Kisii County boss is facing stiff competition from his former ally and Kisii senator Chris Obure, who has since joined gubernatorial race on Jubilee Party.
