Kisii residents have applauded the current refurbishment and renovation of Kisii law courts that have given the courts a new look.

According to some of the residents interviewed led by James Monari, the court was in a pathetic situation and there was a need for the renovations.

The facility is said to have been allocated Sh15 million for renovations by the national government in collaboration with the Kisii county government.

In an interview today with the area high court Judge, Justice Joseph Irania the move to construct and expand the court was driven by the need to accommodate additional judicial officers and house more courtrooms with a view to serving the public better.

He revealed that the refurbishment and renovations commenced in mid-June 2015 following approvals by the ministry of public works who approved the proposed plans .

“We now expect the contractor to complete the renovation by next month and we have all witnessed the good work he has been done,” he added

Justice Irania said the court was now undergoing renovations and when complete four more courts will be available besides the existing five.
