Kisii county leaders led by Governor James Ongwae yesterday joined mourners at the home of the late of Prof Tumbo Oeri to condole with the family.
Prof Oeri died last week in Nairobi.
In his message, Governor Ongwae eulogised the late professor saying that he was a nationalist who believed in building the Nation.
"Prof Tumbo was a great nationalist who championed for development and unity in the country," he said.
Deputy Governor Joash Maangi also eulogised the late Oeri saying that he built strong bonds of friendship among Kenyans irrespective of race, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Mr Maangi said the late professor Aloys, was a great grassroots mobiliser and worked to empower people economically.
“He knew and understood youths vision and that of the Abagusii of uniting them to live together harmoniously. Indeed he was a bridge that linked many across the country,” said the deputy governor.
"His accomplishments are a clear demonstration – especially to the youth – that focus, diligence and determination pay. Those who knew him, benefited immensely from his selfless leadership and wisdom,” said the deputy governor
