Kisii county Senator Chris Obure led a section of Kisii leaders to state house where they had lengthy talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the afternoon of Thursday.

The group of leaders from the region has been traversing the county calling for unity in the community and their meeting with the president leaves the opposition racking their brains.

Even though the agenda of the meeting was not clear, it was believed to be among one of the many strategies that Jubilee wishes to use as it intensifies its charm offensive in the Kisii region to win voters ahead of the general elections come 2017.

Kisii has always been Cord leader Raila Odinga stronghold but just like Western Kenya, the opposition coalition has been suffering setbacks lately in the region following an indication that some of its key pillars from the two regions have been gravitating to Jubilee.

Also present were Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi, Women Representative Mary Otara, Members of Parliament from the area and former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae.
