The leaders said they will not be misled to support individuals who end up in the opposition.

Speaking on Sunday at Nyabururu Catholic Parish, Kisii Senator Chris Obure said the community had asked leaders to work with the Jubilee administration for the sake of development.

“You told us recently that we work with Jubilee and this is why we are here supporting the work of the government. We will not follow some political parties blindly anymore,” said Mr Obure.

On his part Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka said it was time leaders from the Abagusii community took a common development agenda in chatting the political future for the community.

“As Abagusii community, we are not going to gamble with our votes this time round. We will soon meet and make a wise decision on where we want to take our community come the next election,” said Mr Onyonka.

Bobasi MP Stephen Manoti and his Kitutu Chache North counterpart Jimmy Angwenyi said the Abagusii community would not make another mistake of being in the opposition after the next general election.

Joash Maangi, the county's deputy governor, said the Abagusii community will support the Jubilee Party in 2017, adding that the community will not afford to be in the opposition.

“CIC chairman Charles Nyachae and I told former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to engage in mature politics aimed at uniting Kenyans instead of promoting politics of division,” said Maangi.

Nyachae said Raila should not take the community for granted, simply because they have supported him in the past.

“We should be respected. We have the capacity to chat our future as far as politics are concerned,” said Nyachae, as quoted by DPPS.

Kisii Catholic Diocese Bishop Joseph Mairura who delivered the sermon asked leaders to put aside their selfish interests and serve the people.
