Kisii leaders have thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for retaining Fred Matiang’i in his cabinet secretaries’ team.
The leaders, who spoke on Tuesday, said they respect President Kenyatta and his decisions and will work together to develop the country.
Led by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, the leaders exuded confidence that Matiang’i will once again thrive in his work.
Mating’I was among the standout secretaries that president Kenyatta appointed in his first term in office, and has fostered change in the Education ministry over the last one year.
Among the changes, he has overseen include having an efficient marking system, which saw candidates receive their scores three weeks after sitting their final paper.
He has also held on the Internal Security docket, ensuring there is a security within the borders.
President Kenyatta announced his first batch of cabinet secretaries on Friday, retaining six of the men that served him in his first term.
Apart from Matiangi, Kenyatta retained Joe Mucheru, Henry Rotich, James Macharia, Charles Keter and Najib Balala.
The president is expected to name his second team in the coming days, with pressure from different quarters for him to include women in his lineup.
He left out many of his so-called trusted lieutenants, including Mwangi Kiunjuri.
