Medical superintendent Dr Enock Ondari however states that the hospital received the last batch of drugs last Friday as the county had ordered.

“The facility stocks essential drugs from the county depot after order from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa). We received drugs worth Sh 2.8 million in the first phase and received the second phase on Friday so we have drugs,” confirmed Dr Ondari.

Dr Ondari added: “Since it is a government facility, its hosts a large number of patients and the drug consumption is high. With the small space we have for storage, we cannot store all our drugs here but at the county depot for safety.”

The county executive committee member on health Sarah Omache said that she never had information that drugs were missing in the facility.

“I do not know (about lack of drugs) but I will investigate to ascertain the truth,” she said.
