A Kisii based public health officer; George Ombati has cautioned locals to sleep under treated mosquito net to avoid contracting diseases such as Malaria.
Speaking in Kisii town, George Ombati said with the coming of the rains mosquitoes are bound to escalate thus chances of transmission of malaria maybe at an all time high.
“Make sure you now utilise the nets you have and those issued during clinics to protect yourselves and children from the likelihood of being bitten by mosquitoes,” said Ombati.
He added that the locals should ensure stagnant waters are drained away or spayed while nearby bushes should be cleared so that mosquitoes do not breed on them.
“Your health is very important. Ensure you take the utmost care during this season so as not to be a victim of malaria which is very costly to treat than to prevent,” he added.
