Matatu operators in Kisii have welcomed the High court decision to suspend the ban on night travel.

The operators led by David Mogesa, a Kisii classic bus driver on Friday speaking in Kisii town said high court Judge Enoch Chacha Mwita’s directive to suspend the night travel ban will see the transport sector recover from the losses incurred.

“Since NTSA and National Police Service Commission announced the ban on night travel, the transport sector has incurred huge losses and suspending it will help the matatu sector recover from the losses,” he said.

He asked drivers to observe road rules once they will resume night travels.

Johannes Matagaro, another driver said he has not been going to work after the ban was imposed.

“I have been working with Nyamira express bus services from Kisii – Mombasa on the night shift. When the ban was imposed I have never gone to work because the night shift was not there. I am now ready to resume work and promise to observe road rules,” said Matagaro.
