Members of Kisii County Assembly have praised Governor James Ongwae for giving out bursaries to all students at different levels of education this year. The ward representatives said that they are in full support of the Governor’s plans that the money be increased from Sh 3 to 5 million in the next financial year as they also requested that the wards that are big be allocated more money. Speaking when giving bursary cheques to different schools in his ward, Sengera-Bosoti member of county assembly Timothy Nyarang’o said that bigger wards should be given more money compared to other wards so that many students can benefit from the bursary fund. “I want to ask my governor to allocate a fund to top up on money allocated to bigger wards to help students in technical institutions also benefit from it,” he said. The same was echoed by Bokimonge ward representative George Bibao and his Magenche counterpart Timothy Obugu who said that he will give bursaries to boda boda operators as a sponsorship to further their education. “I want to call on the county government to consider the ward size, and the ward population when allocating bursary funds to the wards,” said Obugu.
