Two children burnt to death yesterday evening at Soko Mjinga in Kisii county.
The two children Brandon 7, and Brenda 10 months, were in the house during the fire incident.
According to the Kisii county police commander, Agnes Mudamba they suspect the fire was an accident.
A neighbor, Ms Evelyn Kemunto said they smelled fire and immediately rushed to their house to try and rescue them. The fire became too strong for them and hence their efforts failed.
Lydia Mokeira who is the mother of the children was outside the house taking a shower when the accident happened. She was so emotional that she could not speak to the media.
"We suspect that the fire began when a lit candle in the house fell on the bed and caught fire," she said.
Paramedics from Kisii County Disaster Recovery Department rushed the bodies to Kisii Level 6 Mortuary.
