Two opposition MPs have accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using state resources to entice voters ahead of August elections.
They have also termed compensation targeting over 15, 000 IDPs in Gusii region as political gimmicks meant to hoodwink locals.
In a span of two days, Kenyatta spent over Sh800 million on IDPs, a sum which Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire says was not approved by PAC.
“I am a member of PAC and I am doubtful of the source of the funds. I do not recall PAC issuing a go ahead for the funds to be released and this is unconstitutional,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The ODM treasurer added: “I am yet to know the criteria used to award Kisii IDPs just Sh50, 000 while their counterparts from other parts of the country received over Sh40, 000.”
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi dismissed Kenyatta’s tour as ‘meaningless’ adding that the community would back opposition outfit NASA in August.
“This is a mockery to the community and it is shameful. We cannot allow our people to be cheated by the incompetent regime,” he said.
