The Kisii county government is now in the limelight for corruption allegations curtailing the hiring of county workers.
Youths who have unsuccessfully applied for jobs in the county said they were facing challenges in securing the jobs despite their qualifications.
"For you to get a job in the county government you must have connections or have a relative who works for you," said Elijah Abenga, a political science graduate.
"The Kisii employment process is full of challenges. We have educated youths finding it difficult to secure a good job here. You may have enticing papers but a ksh200 thousand entry fee will cut your chances to get the job," he added.
Another graduate, Kepha Ondieki a statistician graduate said that despite the county government advertising jobs he was yet to secure any.
"I have knocked in all the county offices for the last three years but no office has opened the door for a job. They want you to know somebody or give a bribe in order to be given a job," said Mr Ondieki.
They now want the county chief to implement a favourable structure that will allow graduates to get county jobs regardless of their relationship to county officers.
They have also urged Governor Ongwae to start a crackdown on corrupt county officials.
