Kisii Town Administrator Beatrice Ochoki has asked traders to cooperate in the relocation to new destinations and address any issues they might have in the relevant authority.

Addressing the traders on Wednesday in Kisii market during annual general meeting for open air market traders, Ochoki said the relocation will be done procedurally and nobody will be chased as some allege.

“We are transferring all traders who conduct their businesses along the roads to back streets and therefore I ask you to cooperate when we will be relocating you. There are individuals who masquerade and push you to protest, don’t allow these people to mislead you because they are out to exploit you for their selfish gains,” appealed the town administrator.

She added, “If you are aggrieved by our step do not hold demos but air your grievances through our offices so that appropriate action can be taken. Nothing is impossible when we engage in dialogue; we are here to serve you.”

She said the relocation of the traders would take place once the construction of the backstreet sites is complete.

On his side, MCA for Kisii Central ward, Wilfred Monyenye promised to ensure that new stages in Kisii town have latrines for sanity.

MCA Monyenye added his voice on the relocation of traders that the move is important to decongest the town and therefore asked the business community to cooperate.

He also asked the town administrator Ochoki to lead the inspection of butcheries and close those that do not comply with public health rules.

“We have recorded your concerns and I want to assure you that we will have latrines erected in new stages like the stage behind Tuskeys supermarket among others.” MCA Monyenye promised.
