Twenty-five fire engine operators drawn from each sub counties of Kisii have benefitted from a four-day free training on fire fighting techniques.
The training facilitated by a German fire brigade expert, Markus Fahlbusch of the Civil Defence Academy in the United Arab Emirates police department is meant to equip the participants with basic firefighting skills.
Speaking on Monday, Fahlbusch said he decided to train local residents on basics of firefighting to help them in safeguarding public property and self-defence during fire outbreaks.
“During the training, the learners were equipped with the basics of combustion and fire extinguishing techniques. They were also able to advance their learning of German tactics of fire extinguishing," said Fahlbusch.
Kisii Central ward administrator, Paul Nyasimi applauded the expert for spearheading the vital training which is aimed at equipping the residents with firefighting techniques.
He urged the donors to continue offering training to more county residents to assist them to acquire skills in various fields.
