Boda boda oparators in Kisii town and its outskirts have been urged to take all precautions to reduce accidents during this festive season.

According to Kisii Boda boda operators’ chairperson Oirere Mauti, there is always a rise of accidents involving bodaboda more so during the festive seasons.

“I would like the operators to be sober while working and take all precautions and guidelines put by the county officers to avoid more accidents especially when the year is going to end, we have witnessed many cases through the year and we don’t want to face such cases at this time,” said Oirere.

He also added that inexperienced boda boda operators in the town needed to avoid over speeding, to ensure the numbers of accidents are reduced.

Oirere said that in the past years, Kisii has been recording high number of deaths caused by boda boda accidents, and the number has been rising due to negligence of the operators, poor observance of road signs and inexperienced operators.

“We are currently in the process of letting the experienced cyclers to have bodabodas in town, and I believe this will see the fight against the rising accidents reduce” said Oirere.
