Speaking on Tuesday at Kisii Central Criminal Investigation Headquarter when they were issuing notice and recording of statement, Kisii Matatu owners Chairman George Monda Nyariki lamented over laxity of Police officers in dealing with the killing of their colleague on Friday when chaos erupted among Gusii Institue students, Kisii residents and the Police following road accident which left at least two people dead.

The deceased driver Robert Mokaya was hit by a stray bullet which they claim was shot  by one of the Police officers stationed at Kisii Central Police during last week's riots.

Chairman Monda said that they will stage a protest over the matter if the Police fails to show leadership on ensuring the Police who committed the heinous act is arrested and prosecuted according to the constitutional provisions.

"We cannot afford to lose our people in this careless manner. I appeal to the relevant higher authority to quicken the investigations so that the responsible officer be prosecuted,” requested Monda.

James Mokaya, one of the officials with the Mizizi Sacco, in which the killed driver was operating dded his weight to the matter calling for justice to the affected family saying that the late driver had family who relied on him hence urging the government to compensate the family accordingly.
