Private schools in Kisii have taken issue with the methods used in selecting students who join form one this year after the announcement of 2015 KCPE exams.

Elimu Academy director Andrew Ondimu said it is unconstitutional to discriminate against students from private schools.

“We are not part of the problems in public schools and therefore, the government cannot victimise us at the expense of its own mess. The law provides equal opportunity to education,'' said Ondimu.

The director said that public schools are favoured in selection to private schools with students from private schools required to have met a requisite of 385 marks comparing to public schools’ requirement of just 350 marks and above.
