During a political rally in Nyaribari Chache on Friday, Kisii political leaders announced this and said they were going to work on the modalities soonest possible to develop the outfit that would address their political concerns well.

“We are tired of supporting others to advance their interests,” Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka said as quoted by The Standard.

In a statement read by Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, the leadership further said that the move was only to get a direction for the Kisii people and that they did not intend it to be a divisive tool.

“We have no intention of isolating anybody. We must organise our politics. Other communities have established their own political parties and there is no sense in always drumming support for other individuals and our objective is to transform the region and ensure sustainable development. The initiative is aimed at empowering the community socially, culturally, politically and economically,”  he said.

At the rally, Former Constitution Implementation Commission (CIC) Chairman Charles Nyachae also revealed pressure from the community where he said the people wanted him to announce his political interest and eventually guide their community.

“We have a role to support development initiatives in our community but this can only be achieved by coming together,” he said.
