Kisii residents have been asked to maintain good hygiene to avoid contracting common diseases during El Nino rains.
Kisii CeC for Health Sarah Omache said the residents were at high risk of getting infected with diseases such as cholera and typhoid if they failed to observe good hygiene.
Mrs Omache advised residents to ensure that the environment they live in is clean to keep disease causing bacteria at bay.
"El Nino rains effects are adverse. My appeal to Kisii residents is to maintain good hygiene and ensure places they operate in are clean. This a preventive measure against diseases because the possibility of disease outbreak during rainy seasons like this is high," said the CeC.
She was speaking on Tuesday when governor James Ongwae flagged off 1,800 youths contracted by the county government to help in unclogging blocked drainage in all wards as the El Nino rains continue to pound the region.
