She said despite the county receiving heavy rainfall, there has been a shortage in the region due to lack of harvesting rainwater, illegal connections, and leakages of water pipes.

"Pipe leakages, the illegal connection of water by residents has made it hard to repair pipes to ensure a free flow of water from the main sources to other areas in the county,"  she said.

Ocharo added that the illegal connections have reduced revenue collected from water thus hindering service delivery.

She urged members of the public to report any water pipe leakages to minimise wastage.
