Residents of Kisii County who have attained the age of 18 years are being urged to apply for identity cards.
According to Kisii County Registrar of Persons, David Moindi, the county has recorded low registration during the months of March and April, this year where only 15,000 new applicants were registered.
“I am sure the county currently has very many unregistered people who are above 18 years. I would like them all to get up and make sure they have obtained their identification cards,” said Moindi.
Moindi who spoke from his office expressed dissatisfaction with the low turn-out and hoped they registration target will surpassed their targets for this financial year.
“This office is expected to carry out its activities to meet the citizens’ needs but resource constraints are a major challenge that has led to poor service delivery,” he said.
He added that the construction of a Huduma Centre will ensure that all government services are available under one roof to avoid unnecessary inconveniencies.
The officer added that the government was committed to ensuring that its citizens get their IDs within the stipulated duration of 60 days.
“We are capable of offering quick service to citizens and the IDs will be ready on time,” he assured.
