Binchari MP Zebedayo Opore has challenged area resident to elect 'sound mind' leaders who are development conscious for their own benefit.
Opore also urged locals to desist from engaging in destructive politics adding that it would drag development in the entire Gusii region.
The Jubilee allied MP was speaking at Riyabe on Friday where he also reminded his constituents that the Jubilee government was the final process of launching a major road in the region.
"I want to remind you that it is important to choose sound mind leaders come August. Our country is basically lagging behind because of bad choices especially at the grassroots level," he said.
"We should give development a priority and that is my wish. Jubilee government is doing its best to improve infrastructure in this region. The president will launch a road in this constituency soon," he said.
Opore is among a handful of Kisii County MPs who have been critical on the leadership of area governor James Ongwae, a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
