Kisii county Deputy governor Joash Maangi has called upon all county residents to support the ‘Omogusii unity’ movement to ensure that they spearhead development in the county.
Speaking on Sunday at Tendere Stadium, Maangi said that their movement is geared towards ensuring that the Gusii community has one voice instead of having individuals benefit from the government allocation and appointment.
“In the past years we have seen the community get less from the National government due to the less bargaining power when in the real sense we have numbers that can see us get more, so that’s why we are calling all to support us,” he added.
Maangi, however, said that their unity has no self-interest rather the interest of the community and said those opposing them will soon see the fruits of their unity.
“We are making good moves and so far we have what it takes to get a big share from the government as a community and all those against the unity should realise that we are fighting for the community and not individuals,” he added.
