Nyakumbati residents blame the government for not maintaining and puting up clear road signs which has led to increase in road accidents in the area.
This follows an accident that occurred yesterday at Nyambunde, Itumbe-Igare away in Sameta sub-county. Which involved a Toyota primo and a police land cruiser Toyota vehicle which was heading to Itumbe from Igare.
According to eye witnesses the police vehicle was being driven on the wrong side of the road which then hit an oncoming car head on at a corner.
Speaking with this write Joshua Sindiga the owner of the car said that the police vehicle came on his side and he had no control over his car since it was on a sharp corner.
He further added that the police realizing that their vehicle was wrong they decided to call for a breakdown to tow his car to Ogembo police station and asked him to go to the hospital since he had some injuries.
“They have pulled my car and also some police who arrived early decide to pull some pieces from my side to the opposite side where they said their vehicle was passing and declared I was wrong, but I have evidence over the same,” added Sindiga.
Also he added that the road signs put on that road they don’t indicate clearly that it’s a corner like the other major roads, and more especially that same corner has caused many accidents leading to lose of lives including the recent one of Rioma school bus which killed so many students.
“The government must react immediately to solve the situation to avoid accidents.”He said.
The investigations are on to establish the cause.
