The late Professor Joseph Nyasani who died on 5th February 2016 in a Nairobi hospital has finally been laid to rest at his Nyabururu home, Kisii county.
Leaders who attended the burial include the Kisii county governor James Ongwae, his deputy Joash Maangi, area MP Richard Onyonka, MCAs and other key dignitaries.
Maangi paid tribute to the fallen scholar describing him as “a towering academician” whose intellectual contributions played a major role in shaping the academic world.
"Nyasani was a distinguished professor of international repute and as an academician in the field of philosophy who has served the country and the world at large in various capacities," he said.
"As a Community, we have lost a great scholar, philosopher, broadcaster, mentor and leader whose contribution will be greatly missed," he added.
Until his demise, Professor Nyasani was affiliated with the University of Nairobi, Kisii University, Catholic University and Consolata Institute of Philosophy.
