Kisii County senatorial aspirant Omingo Magara has urged politicians and supporters to embrace political tolerance and maturity during campaigns as August 8 election nears.
Magara said politicians and their supporters should uphold sanity as campaigns intensify not only in Kisii County but also across the country.
“Every politician has a right to campaign across the country without interferance. We as leaders should not take advantage to spread hatred among supporters since this will trigger violence,” he said.
He asked security agents to be alert and arrest hate mongers who advocate violence.
He added that a repeat of 2007/2008 elections chaos should not be witnessed.
Magara defended his candidature saying that he is the best suited unlike his competitors who he said have nothing to offer to the people of Kisii County.
“Voters should vet all politicians seeking elective posts before they vote in August polls. For senate, am the best," he said.
Magara is vying on a PDP ticket and will battle it out with ODM's Prof. Sam Ongeri, Charles Nyachae of Jubilee Party, Samwel Okemwa of Ford-Kenya, Nyamwega Benayo of ELP, Richard Atemba of KNC, Richard Mokua of KSC, Isaac Onchagwa - Independent, Rasugu Justus of NLP, Ombati Kennedy of LPK and Vincent Gekone of PEP.
