Parents have been urged to instruct their children in tertiary institutions to take advantage of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) facility by filling the forms so they can access the credit that will enable finance their studies.
Speaking on Monday in his office St Ann’s college in collaboration with St Paul’s university Mr Calvin Nyakwara said that most of the students fail to benefit from his program because of simply filling out forms.
According to him this program is meant to help the students but most parents and university students they do not take interest to benefit from this program.
Nyakwara added that most of the students ignore to fill the forms with the assumption that their parents are capable of paying the fees without knowing that most of the parents struggle.
“I am urging students to know this project is meant to boost them, and the government cannot know your need if you do not fill the applications form asking for the same,” added Mr Nyakwara
Nyakwara noted that if students can get this loans it will help them to stay in class without be chased away because of outstanding fees balances.
