According to the Kisii Taxi Union Chairperson Nelson Bagaka, the cases of carjacking in the area are on the increase, and so far no one has been arrested or brought to book by the police.

He termed the incidents as well planned, and that the groups are taking the advantage of the police ‘laxity’ to exploit and continue their criminal activities.

“The carjackers have come up with many methods, one is commonly referred to as “fender bender”, where the criminals slam on the brakes too suddenly, causing the motorist behind to hit their car, then they attack,” said Bagaka

He added that they have reported the cases to the police, of who do not take any appropriate action to bring the thugs to book and make sure the whole county is clean of the carjackers.

This comes barely a few days after two taxi drivers were hijacked near Mwembe estate in Kisii town, and their cars stolen together with some phones and valuables which they had.
