Teachers from Kisii County have asked KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion to resign from his position and concentrate on politics.
The teachers led by Pius Nyagaka Okemwa said that Mr Sossion who is a nominated ODM MP should resign voluntarily.
"We recognize Sossion’s efforts to defend teachers for all the years he has served but we wish to urge him to resign so that he can concentrate on politics fully. Teachers want good payment and Sossion should push the government to pay teachers well while in Parliament,” said Okemwa.
Okemwa said teachers will not go on strike as they were asked by Sossion.
“No teacher will boycott work as directed by Sossion in the second term. Teachers should not listen to Sossion who is misusing teachers to seek leadership in this country,” he added.
He noted that there are other people who are fit to serve as KNUT secretary general once Sossion resigns.
Sossion was deregistered as a teacher by TSC this yerar's January.
