Armed robbers stormed a residence in Kisii town's Jogoo estate early Wednesday morning and stole property worth millions of shillings.
The incident targeted a residence allegedly occupied by middle-class citizens in which victims who resisted the robbery were beaten and tied up.
According to a witness, among the items that were stolen included electronics and cash, with the robbers escaping in a white saloon car that had no registration number.
“They invaded into our compound and their number was approximately five. We were unable to challenge them because they had sophisticated weapons hence could easily repulse our attempts to attack them. They escaped with cash and electronics from and I saw them drive in a white saloon car that had no registration,” said a victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to sensitivity of the issue.
Kisii OCPD Solomon Kiragu confirmed the incident and condemned it, reassuring the affected families that the police were pursuing the suspected criminals.
“We received the reports long after they had committed the crime and that is really regrettable. We are pushing hard to corner them because they are operating as a network and it will be easier to deal with them,” he said.
Mr Keragu urged residents to give information that could lead to apprehension and subsequent charging of the gangsters.
