The traders say construction of the market will help them carry out their businesses efficiently.

Speaking to this reporter on Monday at Daraja Mbili market, a section of the traders asked the government to live by its promise of starting off the project in March, 2015.

However, they wondered why the project had not kicked off as slated.

"We are yearning for the market so that it can help us conduct our businesses well. Governor Ongwae promised us that the construction of the market was to start in March, but the construction has not yet begun," said Concepta Kerubo, a business lady.

John Onchari, a shoe seller in the market, called on the government to construct the market stating they are conducting businesses in a terrible state, which worsens during the rain seasons.

"I ask the government to hear our cry and fasten the construction of the market. We find it difficult to carry out our businesses especially in this rainy season," he said.

Kisii CeC for Trade and Industry Samuel Kebati Osoro had confirmed that the county received Sh600 million for the construction of the market.

He had promised that the construction of the four storey market was to kick off in March this year, to enable traders carry out their businesses efficiently.
