He reminded them to continue remitting their revenues to the county government under the Kisii County Finance Act 2013/2014, pending resolution of the contentious Kisii County Finance Act 2014/2015.

Ongwae clarified that the Court of Appeal sitting in Kisii today allowed the Kisii County Government to continue collecting its revenue under the Kisii County Finance Act 2013/2014 until the case challenging the Kisii County Finance Act 2015/2015 is settled out of court between the Kisii County Government and the aggrieved citizens from the county who moved to court challenging the new rates in the Act.

Speaking to the press at the county boardroom after the Court of Appeal allowed the case to be settled out of court, Ongwae warned traders against misinformation that the county government had been restrained from collecting revenue.

"I am taking this opportunity to inform all traders and members of the public from Kisii County that the Court of Appeal has allowed the Kisii County Government to collect revenue using the rates provided for in the Kisii County Finance Act 2013/2014, pending out of court settlement of the Kisii County Finance Act 2014/2015 case," clarified Ongwae.

The Governor's remarks come amid protests from the traders across the county that the court had restrained the Kisii County Government from collecting revenue until the case filed at the Kisii High Court challenging the implementation of the Kisii County Finance Act 2014/2015 is determined at the Court of Appeal in Kisii.
