The farmers accused the company of ‘inconsistency and deceit’ since the sixteen of them had submitted their bank accounts to the nearby Sotik branch seven months following the request from the company.

“They are playing mind games with us and this is unconstitutional. They are inconsistent and deceitful because they have taken unnecessarily long than they had promised us. It is our right to be paid since the rout wasn’t on their map,” said Victor Ong’era.

“It is improper for a company like KPLC to play around with citizens of this nation on their genuine damages. They have to take that responsibility,” he added.

They threatened to sue KPLC over non-compliance if it didn’t make the payment in a weeks’ time besides also promising to hold peaceful demonstrations.

“We will seek the intervention of the court over the matter if they do not make the payments by Wednesday next week. Further, as the affected people, we will hold peaceful demonstrations over the same issue,” added John Masara.

Efforts to reach KPLC-Sotik branch for a comment bore no fruit as employees said the Manager who was responsible to speak on behalf of the company was away on official duty in Kisumu.
