National Authority for the Campaign against Drugs and Alcohol coordinator in the Nyanza region Father Laurence Nyaanga has officially launched his campaign to fight illegal selling and manufacturing of alcohol in Kisii County.
Bishop Nyaanga kicked off the mission in Nyankongo area where his effort saw over 100,000 litres of chang'aa seized and poured as 20 brewers were arrested and will be arraigned in court to answer charges.
He appealed to all parents, leaders and resident in general who have good will for the youth to join hand and fight the vice in order to promote the development and raise the economic standards of Kisii region.
Bishop Nyaanga further requested the police department to tighten their grip in the verge for a sober society to and appealed to judiciary to set heavy fines and sentences to those found guilty of supplying illegal drugs alcohol whose court clemency has seen majority continue to repeated similar offences after they are freed from prison.
He however challenged the area leaders to engage the Kisii residents to venture into alternative ways of getting their income other than selling alcohol especially to the youth who are otherwise the power of the county's economic boost.
This comes barely 10 days after the NACADA boss John Mututho toured the area in a three-day workshop which was meant to address the danger of drugs and alcohol.
