In April 2015, suspected al-Shabaab militants stormed the Garissa college and killed at least 147 people, most who were students.

The Kisii students began the procession from the university on Saturday morning, chanting songs to condemn terror activities.

They went all through to Kisii town, where they stopped at the county offices to perform a drill in remembrance of their fallen comrades.

Francis Kerongo, the university's assistant dean of students, led the students in the five-hour procession.

Representing the management, Kerongo said the institution had joined Garissa students and all Kenyans to denounce acts of terrorists of dividing Kenyans on religious lines.

"There is no mistake in religion, race or tribes. From today we want to be one family of humanity," said Kerongo.

"Terrorism cannot bring us together through guns but by extending our love," he added.

Kerongo said there was need to establish 'Nyumba Kumi' initiatives in campuses and homes so that people would know who they are living or associating with.

The students in one accord put their signatures on paper to agree not to be used by terrorists.
